Reputed to date back to the 1700’s, this rare beauty was once very well-known in most English gardens until 2 World Wars decimated not just the English spirit but also their horticultural soul. Highly ornamental pollinator friendly flowers that wouldn’t look out of place in the flower border let alone the kitchen garden. Expect 3-4 delicate flavoured beans per pod. 
 
CULTURE – Can be sown directly 23cm (9”) apart in Sept/Oct or Feb/March (although benefits from cloche protection during harsher winter weather).  Prefers a warm, sheltered, sunny location with plenty of well-rotted manure incorporated into the soil. Overall height: 120cm (4ft).  Tall vegetables benefit from plant supports such as string & wooden stakes. Plants need to be kept moist for good pod set. Harvest Summer. Use immediately as does not keep well.
