AKA ‘The Sutton’. Very hardy, bush variety that crops well reliably forming 6 small tender beans per pod. Multiple awards of Garden Merit from the RHS with a max height of 45cm (18”). Thought to be a cross between ‘Sutton’s Exhibition Long-pod’ & ‘Beck’s Green Gem’.
CULTURE – Can be sown directly 23cm (9”) apart in Sept/Oct or Feb/March (although benefits from cloche protection during harsher winter weather). Prefers a warm, sheltered, sunny location with plenty of well-rotted manure incorporated into the soil. Overall height: 45cm (18”). Doesn’t usually need staking unless in a very exposed area. Plants need to be kept moist for good pod set. Harvest Summer.
