MAINCROP.  Raised in Essex, England by Taber & Cullen it was introduced to the world around 1890, then trialled in America in 1903 by W. Atlee Burpee. This dwarf shelling pea with large pods grows on vines reaching 3-4 feet tall. It is an excellent variety with high yields of sweet green peas.

Can be sown directly in Sept/Oct or Feb/March (although benefit from cloche protection during harsh winter weather).  Prefers a warm, sheltered, sunny location with plenty of well-rotted mature incorporated into the soil. Overall height: 1m (3ft).  Plants need to be kept moist for good pod set. Needs pea sticks.
