2ND EARLY. Famously reliable which made it was into not only Victorian Kitchen Gardens but also Wartime allotments during the Dig For Victory campaign. An excellent pea which can be sown late into June without ill affect but will benefit from cloche protection if grown as an early crop.

Can be sown directly in Sept/Oct or Feb/March (although benefit from cloche protection during harsh winter weather).  Prefers a warm, sheltered, sunny location with plenty of well-rotted mature incorporated into the soil. Overall height: 60cm (23”).  Plants need to be kept moist for good pod set.
